FIU Welcome Back Video 2022

In August 2022, Florida International University (FIU), a leading public research university in Miami, Florida, embarked on a creative journey to welcome its students back to campus for the Fall semester.

Objective

The primary objective of the project was to engage and excite FIU students for the upcoming Fall 2022 semester while also strengthening the sense of belonging and pride in their university. The video aimed to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere on campus and online.

Planning and Conceptualization

  1. Brainstorming: The project began with a brainstorming session among FIU's marketing and communication team. Inspired by the magic of Disney, they decided to create a parody of Disney's iconic Cinderella’s Castle intro with a twist.
  2. Concept Development: The team developed a concept where the FIU Fightsong version of Disney's intro music would be used in the video. The concept would be executed in a short video featuring iconic elements of FIU.

Execution

  1. Script and Storyboard: A script was written to guide the video production process. A storyboard was also created to visualize the sequence of scenes.
  2. Music Production: I worked on adapting Disney's iconic intro music to the FIU Fightsong. This involved composing and orchestrating the music.
  3. Video Production: The video was designed to be visually stunning and enchanting, evoking the Disney magic while showcasing iconic FIU landmarks.

Release and Impact

  1. Video Release: The video was released on FIU's official social media channels to welcome students back to campus for the Fall 2022 semester.
  2. Increased Engagement: FIU saw a significant increase in engagement on its social media channels and website during the video's release period. This translated into heightened excitement and anticipation among students.
